Our America.... The Pilgrim Adventure

Several months ago I was contacted by an author, Susan Kilbride, who asked me to review some books she has written. This is the first review. The book is titled Our America.... The Pilgrim Adventure...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My son and I just finished a one-year time-travel adventure with Finn and Ginny, enduring the Pilgrims' first year in Plimouth Plantation.
Oh, okay, not a literal year. But when you travel through time, your original timeline gets all timey-wimey... If you know what I mean...
Finn and Ginny are twins. They are living with their aunt and uncle since their parents disappeared one day. After Finn catches Uncle Peter in some suspicious behavior (disappearing and reappearing), he presses and gets Uncle Peter to reveal that he not only invented a time-travel device but also believes that Mom and Dad disappeared by using the device. They may have mistaken it for a television remote control, but they have probably time-traveled to who-knows-where, and since the time travel device got left behind, they can't find their way back to the present without help. Uncle Peter has been trying to find them, but has no idea where or when in time they have gone.
Finn and Ginny get impatient over the situation, and like so many children that age (I can't find it, but I think they're 13), they decide to take matters into their own hands. They orchestrate a day when their aunt and uncle leave them home alone, and they immediately search the house for all remotes, and decide on one that must be the time transport device. They hold hands and activate the device, and suddenly find themselves in 1622 on the Mayflower, headed for the New Land.
They experience their share of sea sickness, get to know the pilgrims in a very personal way, and experience the Pilgrims' pain of losing so many of their number as the days go by.  They experience hunger in a way that Finn has never known.
I won't tell you all -- you need to read it yourself for that.
Pick up a copy and read it to your children as you study the Pilgrims. You'll be glad you did.
Now to finish my review I need to tell you that my son is difficult to please. I have had many reviews where I had a wonderful product that didn't please my son.
That is not the case here. My son thoroughly enjoyed this book, including the historical notes at the end of the book, and he is so glad there is a sequel for us to read now that we've finished this one. He can't wait to get going with Finn and Ginny's next adventure.
