E-camp Still Enrolling!

Last day!

There is still some room left to enroll in Aurora Lipper’s online science Camp.

And, she'll be giving away a whole bunch of extra free bonuses.

BUT, enrollment for 2014 officially closes tomorrow at 6 PM.

Click the link below to get the details before it fills up:

If you're just tuning in, here are the details.

e-Camp is an all out totally fun AND educational online science camp.

If you want to keep your kids' learning this summer, but you also want it to be totally fun, this might just be the answer.

Imagine having all the fun and excitement of a live-and-in-person summer camp, but being able to have your kids do it on their own schedule (it's set up so they can do it on their own - just set them up and they'll be engaged for hours).

Plus, as a parent, you can feel good because even though they're having a total blast, they're actually learning good solid science.

The kind of learning that really relates to the world around them.

Rather than try to explain it all, I'll leave that to Aurora herself.  But I have seen her stuff, and I can tell you that she really over-delivers.

Tomorrow is the last day to enroll for summer 2014.  It's a bit different that normal ongoing camp enrollments, but Aurora says that she wants to focus her energy on teaching, so she likes it this way.

So, get the whole story from Aurora herself.  Click the link below now to learn more:

I know your kids will have a great summer in e-Camp.

If you're not familiar with e-Camp, here's what it is and what it will do for you and your kids.

e-Camp is an all-out totally fun AND educational online science camp.

Imagine sending your kids off to a really great hands-on summer science camp.  BUT, you get to decide what day and time they go.  This is e-camp.

Plus, It's designed so they can do it on their own - just set them up and they'll be engaged for hours.  So it’s perfect if you don’t have time to work with your kids, or if science isn’t really your thing.

If you want to keep your kids' learning this summer, but you also want it to be totally fun, this might just be the answer.

As a parent, you can feel good because even though they're having a total blast, they're actually learning good solid science.

The kind of learning that really relates to the world around them.

Rather than try to explain it all, I'll leave that to Aurora herself.

I have seen her material, and I can tell you that she really over-delivers.  Last year hundreds of kids enrolled in e-Camp!

Registration for e-Camp 2014 is only open for 3 days, until this Thursday.

Trident Case -A Homeschool Crew Review

In April I learned I had been selected to review the Trident Case Kraken A.M.S. Case for iPod 2/3/4,  a protective iPad cover. I got to pick my preferred color combination, and very soon my package had arrived.
If the packaging is any indication of the product inside, this should be an amazing product! After I finished fighting to get through the tough plastic packaging, I was faced with a beautiful, closed iPad protective case, one which had the directions (on how to open and close it) packed inside the closed case (that was not easily opened without the instructions).

I finally "cracked the code" and managed to open the case without damaging it. Getting inside, I found a little Trident Instructional Booklet, but it really said very little. It did not really give instructions on inserting the iPad into the case. But that information is available on YouTube:
Before putting my iPad in it, though,

May 2014 Folk Song

This month's folk song on the Ambleside Online Folk Song rotation is called The Rising of the Moon. It is an old Irish ballad based on the uprising of 1798. Here is the link I am sharing for you all:

It might not be the best recording of the recordings available, but at least it doesn't have an inappropriate commercial before the song, like one of the other recordings.

Hope you enjoy it. The lyrics are included, but can also be found here:

The Rising of the Moon

George Washington's Rule #38

In working my way through George Washington's Rules for Civility and Decent Behavior, I have arrived at Rule #38 which states:

38. In visiting the sick, do not play the physician if you be not knowing therein.

This seems self-explanatory. If you're not a doctor, don't attempt to give medical advice to your sick friends. That was George's rule.

Now, George didn't have Google. Most of us, when we ourselves or someone we love is sick or diagnosed with something, we immediately search the Internet to find out as much as we can about the illness and its possible treatments and cures. So on this rule I have to respectfully disagree with George. If I'm sick, and my doctor has prescribed antibiotics, or worse yet chemotherapy, you'd better believe I want to know first what the options are and whether or not this is a good course of action. I take advice from my friends, and I take advice and information from the Internet. And I am open to seeking out alternative,  radical solutions (like following a vegan diet to combat cholesterol, instead of taking statins).

What do you think? Do you side with George Washington, or with me?

George Washington's Rules, Rule #37

Working my way through George Washington's Rules, we are up to Rule #37 which states:
In speaking to men of quality do not
lean nor look them full in the face, nor
approach too near them at lest keep a full pace from them.
I think this rule must have been based on societal norms of the time. For instance, nowadays, when you are speaking to someone, leaning toward them and looking them straight in the eye IS considered polite. It is still true, though, that people like to have about 12-18" of personal space.

May 2014 Hymn Study

The Ambleside Online Hymn Rotation hymn for May, 2014 is "Fairest Lord Jesus":

I like to do two songs each month, so this month my son and I will also be working on a song I remember from Kathryn Kuhlman in the 1970's, "And He Walks With Me":
