George Washington's Rules - #10

Here is George Washington's Rule for the week:

10thWhen you Sit down, Keep your Feet firm and Even, without putting one on the other or Crossing them.

Translation:

When you sit down, sit up straight and place your feet on the floor, firmly, side by side. Never cross your legs, not even your ankles.

This is an amazingly hard goal! And this is clearly from a different time. I barely ever sit down that I don't cross my ankles.

This also explains why all representations of George Washington seated show him sitting up straight and tall -- that was what he did!
